S.O.S: Restoring the Baoule Reserve
9m 40s
In a community struggling with environmental challenges, Mrs. Diallo Oumou M. Keita, the executive director of JVE (Young Volunteer for the Environment), takes on the fight to protect the Baoulé biosphere reserve. The community reminisces about the importance of shea trees, which provided butter, oil, and even treated infants. However, rampant logging and bushfires have devastated the forest, leading to famine and economic hardships. The Baoulé forest faces severe dangers, including human pressures, bushfires, insecurity, and the exploitative use of its resources. To restore the forest, the community embarks on a mission to replant trees, with the hope of reviving the ecosystem and preserving their way of life. As the children learn the importance of trees, the community rallies together to protect and nurture the new plantings. The project's success depends on community support and recognition that their own survival is intertwined with the well-being of the forest.
