Trawling is known to be one of the most destructive and wasteful fishing techniques in the world. By dragging large nets through the water column or weighted nets along the seafloor, trawling wipes out vulnerable fish stocks, destroys habitats, and disrupts food chains. Industrial factory-freezer trawlers in coastal British Columbia are threatening the livelihoods of coastal communities and other fishers and compromising the future of countless fish species and their offshore habitat.
