Art made from fallen leaves! Artist Alyssa Jos collects leaves from the streets of Paris and turns them into beautiful art pieces. Alyssa has created all kinds of unique works of art using leaves found in just her neighbourhood. Leaves on roads and pavements in cities like Paris are typically collected and burned, as they are seen as a waste product instead of being understood as the ecosystem supporters they can be in urban green spaces. At her studio in Paris, we got to see the full process. The leaves are soaked in a plant-based mixture, dried, then can be used right away or archived for future projects. Using natural resources like this instead of toxic plastic-based paints allows artists to create with little negative environmental impact while also drawing attention back to the beauty of nature.
